Week Two: Ducks and Diedes

Absent any hope of positive news about the Raiders, I am (understandably, I think) busy reveling in Oregon's astounding win over Oklahoma at Autzen on Saturday. You've probably heard an awful lot about a bad call, so perhaps you missed the point of the game: Oregon rolled up 500 yards against Oklahoma, and was forced to punt only three times in 12 drives. Jonathan Stewart had 144 yards rushing on just 23 carries--more yards-per-carry than Adrian Peterson. The only reason the game was close in the first place was that Oregon had four turnovers (vs. none for Oklahoma, unless you count the onside kick). (Okay, that's not quite true: the other reason the game was close is that Adrian Peterson was an unstoppable monster in the second half.)

Anyway, if you're going to correct a call for Oklahoma, then keep it fair and correct the noncall on offensive pass interference on Oklahoma's touchdown in the third quarter. Yay, fairness!

About the pool: Who are these Diedes? They're all over the leader board. Mike and Mary noticed three errors in last week's scores--they're corrected below, helping Jim Myers, Steve Diede, and Bruce Wilkens each gain a point.

Week One, 2006 NFL Season

Welcome back! Week one is in the books, and I think those books should be taken to the incinerator and burned to eliminate all traces of the 75-0 mauling of the Raiders at Oakland.

The numbers for this week aren't doublechecked with the usual rigor, since one of the co-commissioners is out of, uh, commission. By all means, drop me a line if you think you see an error.

Without further ado...
