2010/11 Final Results

The Doddington stranglehold on the NFL football pool continues: George wins by three games and his father Les is in third place. Bruce Mosieur, tied for first going into the final week, finishes the year in second place after George's three teams (Green Bay, Dallas, and Seattle) sweep his three teams (Chicago, Philadelphia, and St. Louis) on Sunday.

The three leaders were 11 games clear of the field; this is an incredible chasm of football knowledge.

12 entries at $40 per: $480
Less mailing/copying/envelopes: ($30)
Less midseason payout (George): ($40)
Less last place payout (Wayne): ($40)
-------------

Second place (Bruce): $111

Money to be distributed right away. Thanks to all, congratulations, and Go Ducks--

And then there were two

It comes down to this, the final week of the pool: George Doddington and Bruce Mosieur are tied for first place at 155 games apiece. Les Doddington is assured of third place--five points behind the leaders and an astonishing 10 full games ahead of a bunch of people knotted at fourth place. I don't think we've ever seen such a clearcut runaway performance by three people--the leaders are on the verge of lapping the field.

For those keeping track at home, George and Bruce have picked only three games differently in the final week:
Chicago at Green Bay: Bruce has Chicago, George has Green Bay
Dallas at Philadelphia: Bruce has Philadelphia, George has Dallas

...and if the afternoon games result in a split, then everything will be decided in the nightcap game that will send one of these teams to the playoffs and one of these two men shopping for a brand new Oregon Duck BCS Championship Game ensemble:
St. Louis at Seattle: Bruce has St. Louis, George has Seattle

Through Week 14: Then There Were Three

Whoa, there! In the last four weeks Bruce Mosieur (133) and George Doddington (134) have vaulted out to a sizeable lead over the entire rest of the field, with Les Doddington staying just in touch of the lead at 130 and the rest of us mired at 125 or fewer. Unless someone gets on hot streak, the top three places are about to disappear into the distance. (If you made a side bet and boxed the trifecta of George, Bruce and Les, you're looking good, though.)

Personally, I'd say trading a top-three finish in the NFL pool for an unbeaten Oregon season and a shot at the National Title is a fair trade. Go Ducks!

Final Pool Results: Les Doddington by Two

One scoring error was found in the results below, but it didn't substantially change anything: everybody in the running for money gained one game. 2009/10 payouts were calculated as follows and sent today, 1/16:

17 players @ $40 per: $680
Less mailing/copying/envelopes: $45
Less week 8 payout (Les): $40
Less last place payout (Verna): $40
------------------------------------
$555...of which:

$333 Les (60%--first place)
$111 George (20%--tied for second/third)
$111 Wayne (20%--tied for second/third)

Les Doddington, after two years out of the pool, has returned the conquering hero. Congratulations.

I'll dispense the winnings forthwith--but I want to get these scores up in case anybody notes any discrepancies. The prize money goes to the winner (60%), second place (30%), and third place (10%), after paying $40 back to the "last-place winner", Verna Davidson. In this case, it appears the second- and third-place prize money will be split between Wayne Diede and George Doddington, making this a clean Doddington-related sweep.

If anyone has different results that affect the outcome, please let me know so we can get everything just so. Thanks, everyone!
